L2 VS HI

This week the Ladies 2s were lucky to get a nice and cool 7:30PM evening start. But not so lucky to only have 8 sign ups... Thankfully Rachel stepped in despite an injured knee, bringing us to a grand total of 9 players! Only slightly disadvantaged against the opponent’s team of 20 players......

We went in knowing the opponent was a strong team with multiple national players on the team, but boy did we fight hard!!!!

We had Rachel, Qiaoen and YB holding the fort with our goalie Xin, to fend off HI’s relentless attacks right from the start. Xin made brilliant save after save. At one point Xin slid out from the goal in a bid to stop the ball and the opposing attacker had also fallen down trying to score. There was a fumble and the forward put her knee on our goalie while trying to get back up to continue her attempt at the goal - they were simply that hungry for the goals!

Nevertheless, as we gained more momentum, we started stopping more of HI’s offense and in turn serving more of our own attacks. Our mid-fielders and attackers Darlene, Jo, Allisa, Wani and Ovita, started getting into their D more often. In the last quarter, our forward Wani gained control of the ball in our half, and with her amazeballs dribbling skills, beat HI’s defense who were very high up at the midline! In utter shock, every Tornados and HI player was rooted to the ground watching her sprint up HI’s turf without any resistance, until she came face-to-face with HI’s goalie...! Tragically it did not end in a goal, which would have gotten us a treat from our coach Salan!! (Said he would treat the team to a meal if we scored against HI lol)

In the end the L2s walked away with 0-10 loss, but mutually felt that it was one of our best matches played this season!
