A 3pm game didn’t stop 15 of us from turning up that afternoon, wew. The ladies showed up with their game faces on (except for the notorious latecomers, with the latest one to arrive bearing the heaviest responsibility of writing this lovely report).
But anyway - the weather fortunately was pleasant and we were off to an excellent start. The ladies were eager to make progress as they reached the halfway mark of the league, and sure they did, showcasing solid defense and smart tackles in the 1st quarter. But in true L2 women’s style - we succumbed to a bumpy and bouncy goal from the opponent in the 2nd quarter (jeez, really?) but that only drove the team to put on a stronger fight in the second half.
Soon after, the ladies gained more possession, delivered more effective sweeps and hits towards the D - taking more shots at goal. Despite the neck-and-neck race, we couldn’t secure a goal to call it a draw.
The ladies are down to their 4 last matches over the next few weeks and are gearing up to give their very very best. Stay tuned!
